Yuting Zhang, PhD

Assistant Professor of Health Economics
Research Interests:
Pharmaceutical policy and economics, cost-saving effect of new medications,
and economics of mental health.. Biosketch:
Dr. Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Health Economics in the Department of
Health Policy & Management. She received her PhD in Health Economics at
Harvard University. Her research interests focus on pharmaceutical policy
and economics, health technology innovation, and economics of mental health.
She has examined economic and clinical effects of pharmaceutical cost
containment policies such as prior authorization and tiered formularies. She
also has investigated the cost-saving effects of newer medications, both
from the aggregate level and disease specific level. She is currently
co-leading a project to understand how Medicaid/Medicare prior authorization
programs affect medication use patterns and subsequent health outcomes. She
is also actively examining the impact of Medicare Part D on pharmacy and
medical care expenditure and the effect of coverage gap under Part D on drug
spending. She has been invited to present her work at national meetings such
as the Society of General Internal Medicine, AcademyHealth, International
Society of Pharmacoeonomics and Outcomes Research, and American Society of
Health Economists. She was also invited to present her work on Part D to
senior advisors at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. She won
the best New Investigator Podium Presentation Award at the ISPOR 13th Annual
International Meeting in May 2008 and she was a finalist for the Hamolsky
award for junior faculty at the Society of General Internal Medicine in
April 2008. |
